L.B. White Applies Years of Greenhouse Experience to Cannabis

The company can handle a full range of heating and cooling needs for greenhouses.

The Cannabis Equipment News team recently traveled to the Wisconsin Cannabis Expo held in Milwaukee on June 4. At the show, we had an opportunity to interview equipment manufacturers, cultivators and new product developers to learn more about what they bring to the cannabis industry.

L.B. White is an Onalaska, Wisconsin-based manufacturer that's been around since the 1950s. The company builds heating equipment primarily for the livestock and construction industries, but in the past 20 years, it has served the greenhouse industry, as well.

John Kussman, a territorial representative for the company, said L.B. White has been involved in the cannabis industry ever since the legal market kicked off in Colorado. The company manufactures a greenhouse heater that also functions as a CO2 generator, which is a benefit many growers have gravitated toward, he said.

L.B. White also manufacturers cooling products, like its "wet wall" evaporative cooling system.

Kussman said the biggest priorities that cannabis growers mention to L.B. White involve keeping crops warm during colder months, which helps extend the growing season. The company works with customers in many different locations, so it makes sure to get the whole picture in terms of local climate fluctuations to figure out the right equipment configurations. Kussman said the company's work spans new facilities, retrofitted facilities and equipment replacements.

As far as the cannabis industry in L.B. White's home state, Kussman believes there will be a shift with consumers, and that they'll start to buy cannabis products made in Wisconsin instead of those from out of state.

The next Wisconsin Cannabis Expo, presented by the Shepherd Express, will be held Nov. 19, 2022, at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.
