The Cannabis Equipment News team recently traveled to MJBizCon held in Las Vegas from November 28, 2023 through December 1, 2023. At the show, we interviewed equipment manufacturers, cultivators, operators and new product developers to learn more about what they bring to the cannabis industry.
Many cannabis professionals and connoisseurs believe that a product made by hand is a better quality product. PreRoll-Er President Harold Bouchard knows that he has to prove to these operators that machine-made cannabis products are as good (or better) than doing it by hand. Bouchard has spent his career proving such in many markets, but the handmade craftsmanship mentality remains strong in cannabis.
Bouchard says that if you want to make money, you have to automate. In new markets, margins are high, but as the market matures, margins get slimmer as more competition enters the landscape. As this happens, cannabis operators need to find multiple ways of saving money.
PreRoll-Er debuted a number of new technologies at MJBizCon 2023 in Las Vegas, including a new robot that performs end-of-line automation for pre-rolls, cartridges and gummies into various packaging formats, like tubes, jars and boxes.
The company also rolled out a new starter kit, the PreRoll-Er STR Entry Level System, in partnership with Hummingbird. The kit includes PreRoll-Er's BoxFinish-Er and the Hummingbird PR-1. According to Bouchard, the system is ideal for smaller companies with a low volume of pre-roll production.
Pre-Roll-Er also introduced a new financing program on the company's flagship PreRoll-Er-200 pre-roll machine as well as the Entry Level System. Bouchard says it's important to help customers get into technology despite previous difficulties financing automation equipment. Still, many operators don't know about equipment that can automate specific tasks.
The next MJBizCon will be held in Las Vegas from December 3, 2024 through December 6, 2024 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
