Cannabis Company Schwazze Settles Wage Theft Lawsuit

The lawsuit accused the company of unevenly splitting tips.

Schwazze has reached a settlement in a class-action lawsuit brought against its dispensaries in New Mexico and Colorado.

The lawsuit, filed last summer, accused the company of unevenly splitting up tips for budtenders and using some of the tip money to buy meals for staff.

According to court documents obtained by Green Market Report, Schwazze has settled the claims for $525,000.

Most of the settlement will go to the plaintiffs, which include Albuquerque budtender Justin Fowler and 19 other budtenders.

As the report points out, Schwazze is still facing some litigation including a lawsuit filed by another budtender, John Frost.

Frost, who’s seeking $100,000 in damages, has alleged Schwazze engaged in harassment, discrimination, unjust enrichment, criminal extortion, and witness tampering.
