California has advanced a bill that would allow small-scale cannabis cultivators to sell their products directly to consumers at farmers markets.
If approved, it would open up cannabis sales and on-site consumption at state-organized and other temporary events.
According to Marijuana Moment, the bill cleared the state assembly and two committees. It now heads to the state senate floor for a vote.
If it passes the state senate, the state assembly will have to sign off on any changes.
If it becomes law, which wouldn’t happen until early 2026, it would still mean applicants need to meet size requirements to be eligible for the temporary licenses.
That means applicants can’t be growing more than one acre of cannabis, 22,000 square feet under a mixed-light tier 1 cultivation license, or 5,000 square feet under a mixed-light tier 2 or indoor cultivation license.
