F1 Drivers Raise Stink About Pot Smell in Las Vegas

"I was quite high in the car."

F1 held the Las Vegas Grand Prix on Sunday and some of the drivers weren’t too high on the smell of cannabis in the air.

Sales of recreational cannabis have been legal in Nevada since 2017 and while it’s not legal to use in public places, that doesn’t stop all consumers.

According to ESPN, several F1 drivers noticed the scent and didn’t seem too happy about it.

"If they dope [test] the drivers now, I think we'll all test positive,” said Williams driver Franco Colapinto.

"I was quite high in the car," said Max Verstappen. "It's not ideal because you can also smell it while driving and it's quite extreme."

The smell of cannabis can often encroach on sporting events, especially those held in open-air venues.

During last year's U.S. Open tennis tournament in New York, several players complained about the smell wafting over the courts.
