CEN at MJBizCon: Stardust Offers a Better Way to Make Fuzzy Joints

The machine automates a very labor intensive process that typically has a high loss rate.

Sorting Robotics unveiled the Stardust automated kief-coating system early last year. Ben Arreguy, director of sales at the company, says the machine is the first and only system to automate the process to apply kief, bubble hash, crushed THCa diamonds, or pretty much any dry powdery substance to the outside of a pre-roll. The Stardust coats up to 1,200 joints per hour.

Until now, creating a fuzzy-style pre-roll was very labor intensive, and the manual process led to a high loss rate. The Stardust can make a better end product while cutting costs.

Sorting Robotics was founded by a pair of former NASA JPL engineers. The company now has four former NASA engineers on staff who have incorporated many of the aerospace agency's design and build ideologies into how the Sorting designs, develops and manufactures its product, including high-level attention to detail and thinking outside of the box.

Next, the company is working on a fully automated, closed-loop version of Stardust.
