A massive farming complex in New Jersey has applied to begin cannabis cultivation operations on site, which could make it one of the largest such facilities in the state.

According to NJ.com, Country Roads Realty has applied to redevelop the site for cannabis cultivation. The plans include a 15,000-square-foot headhouse building and three greenhouse structures total more than 227,000 square feet. The developers also intend to convert an existing 2,400-square-foot garage into an auxiliary drying building and a 1,750-square-foot residence into an office space.

NJ.com said the nearly 250,000 square foot operation would be among the largest in New Jersey.

As another report points out, the application appears to be linked to ATH Cultivation, which describes itself as a cultivation and manufacturing applicant in New Jersey.

"The future of our business and industry rely on fundamental technology implemented from day one. Using A.I. and our energy efficient, grow methods we look to set the industry standard," the company wrote on its website

It said it plans to use solar panels and wind turbines to reduce its reliance on traditional energy sources. The company also claims that its grow lighting methods use 50% less electricity than traditional grow lights.
