How to Make Sure You're Not Buying the Million-Dollar Doorstop

Omega understands that "cash is king" for operators.

Alexa Wilson is the director of sales at Omega Equipment & Supply, a distribution company specializing in cannabis equipment and ancillary design services that has been in business for about five years.

At MJBizCon 2025, Wilson said more cannabis operators are looking for ways to automate ordering and for solutions that can integrate with EDI (electronic data interchange) for supply chain management.

Safety remains a primary issue for clients. Still, Wilson stressed that Omega understands that "cash is king" for operators. The company helps clients scale without buying everything at once — thus dodging the "million-dollar doorstops", expensive equipment that was unsupported or otherwise unnecessary. She said Omega emphasizes planning for the next five-to-10 years without overspending.

"We have to remember that a lot of these states, a lot of the operators [and] the regulators weren't really given any tools," Wilson said. "They were told, 'This is very important, good luck, be careful, there [are] no rules. We're trying to make sure [operators] understand what they deserve."
