Michigan's Cannabis Delivery Drivers are Getting Robbed a Lot

There have been at least 13 confirmed reports.

Michigan’s Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) has warned that cannabis delivery drivers are being robbed.

According to Fox 17, there have been at least 13 confirmed reports of drivers being robbed while delivering cannabis products to consumers.

The robberies have occurred in residential neighborhoods. In some cases, drivers were robbed at gunpoint and had their vehicles stolen.

The robberies happened in Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Westland, Detroit, Ferndale, Hamtramck, Hazel Park, and Utica.

"We urge marijuana businesses to take all necessary precautions and report any suspicious activity to the proper authorities,” said CRA Director Andrew Brisbo.

Cannabis businesses have increasingly become targets for criminals due in part to many businesses dealing largely in cash.

The uptick in robberies has strengthened the calls among advocates for cannabis banking reform.
