Missouri has passed $1 billion in total cannabis sales since first legalizing medical marijuana.
Legal sales first kicked off in the state in October 2020 when a cancer survivor made Missouri’s first medical cannabis purchase.
But overall sales have accelerated significantly since Missouri began adult-use recreational sales earlier this year.
The state said it recorded about $350 million in total sales in the first three months of adult-use sales.
Recreational cannabis accounted for more than $256 million of that total.
The strong sales have led to growth in Missouri’s cannabis industry and a wealth of new job opportunities.
Missouri said it has now surpassed 14,800 direct jobs in the industry, and suggested its jobs in the sector pay more than similar positions in other states.
