Trulieve has been busy expanding its footprint in Florida as the state prepares to vote on legalizing adult-use recreational cannabis in November.
The company today announced plans to open a new dispensary in Hudson. The news comes after the company this month already announced plans for additional dispensaries in Lake Worth, Clearwater, Cocoa, Miramar Beach, Niceville and Tampa.
"We work to provide value, deliver quality, and enhance lives through cannabis in every community we serve," said Trulieve CEO Kim Rivers.
On November 5, Florida residents will have the chance to vote yes or no on amendment 3, which would legalize cannabis for consumers 21 and older. Trulieve has been one of the biggest financial backers to campaigns encouraging voters to say yes. That includes contributing $5 million to the Smart & Safe Florida political committee in July. According to Cannabis Business Times, Trulieve has contributed $92.7 million since efforts began in 2022 to legalize recreational cannabis in Florida.
Earlier this year, Rivers said legal cannabis in Florida, with its 22 million residents and 138 million annual tourists, could be a $6 billion market opportunity that would effectively triple the state’s current medical-only market. The company currently operates 155 dispensaries in Florida.
“Adult-use in Florida would be the largest conversion in U.S. cannabis history and our team is working diligently to prepare for this monumental event,” said Rivers. “Trulieve maintains outsized market share with 21% of stores in Florida selling over 115% more flower than the state average, eclipsing all competitors.”
