The Greece Police Department, in partnership with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM), has concluded a months-long investigation into an illegal cannabis trafficking operation that resulted in the seizure of more than $17 million in illegal cannabis products, firearms, currency, vehicles and luxury jewelry, as well as the arrest of two individuals.
Beginning in April 2026, the Greece Police initiated an investigation into the illegal sale and distribution of cannabis by Jason Grant and Joseph Grant. During the investigation, detectives identified two warehouse locations allegedly being used to store bulk cannabis and concentrated cannabis products for distribution to smoke shops throughout New York State.
One July 28, 2026, members of the Greece Police Department SWAT Team, working alongside the DEA Rochester Office, DEA Special Response Teams and with investigative support from the OCM and the New York State Police, executed search warrants at two residences and two warehouse locations.
The searches resulted in the seizure of:
- More than 615 pounds of cannabis
- Approximately 20,000 pounds of concentrated cannabis products
- A privately manufactured firearm ("ghost gun")
- More than $219,000 in U.S. currency
- Six vehicles
- Multiple pieces of high-end jewelry
- Additional evidence related to the illegal distribution operation
Based on estimated retail values provided by the OCM, the cannabis products seized are valued at more than $17 million.
Both Joseph and Jason Grant face four counts of criminal possession of cannabis in the first degree, along with an additional weapons possession charge.
