Evolved Extraction has hired two industry veterans as it seeks to establish a foothold in the U.S. amid some shakeups in the country’s cannabis extraction industry.
The company today announced the hirings of Eric “Swiss” Wilhelm and Nikki McGinley—both formerly of ExtractionTek Stainless—to its U.S.-based team.
“In a time of instability for many, Evolved is accelerating. We are well-capitalized, growing, and stepping up to provide the extraction industry with the technology, service, and stability it needs to move forward confidently,” said Evolved CEO Adam Temple. “Swiss and Nikki will play a pivotal role in maintaining supply chain continuity and delivering high-touch service for former ETS clients, as well as new and existing Evolved customers across the United States.”
Both Wilhelm and McGinley seemingly confirmed ExtractionTek’s closure in separate LinkedIn posts.
“It’s hard to put this into words, but I’m crushed to share that ExtractionTek Stainless has officially closed its doors,” McGinley wrote.
“Helping to shape this company from the ground up across all departments has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my career. I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of the most talented people in the cannabis industry and build lasting relationships with clients, vendors, consultants, and even competitors. I’ve contributed to innovations that helped shape the space. I’m proud of what we accomplished, and I know many will be just as surprised by this news as I was to write it,” Wilhelm wrote.
Evolved said its move into the U.S. extraction market also coincides with the closure of Precision Extraction Solutions, which was acquired along with Cascade by Agrify in 2021. While the news hasn’t been confirmed, Precision’s website is no longer available and Agrify has been busy selling off its cannabis production assets as it shifts its focus toward hemp-derived THC beverages.
In 2023, Precision founder Marc Beginin used proceeds from the sale of his company to launch Prodigy Processing Solutions, a cannabis and hemp extraction equipment company.
With ExtractionTek and Precision seemingly out of the picture, Evolved is moving to fill the void, assuring U.S. customers that its Genome Hydrocarbon Extraction Platform is fully compatible with existing systems from those two companies. That could mean extractors would be able to upgrade their current infrastructure without needing to undergo any costly overhauls.
In addition to system upgrades, Evolved offers support for new extraction site builds, including architectural planning to equipment installation and commissioning.
