A cannabis dispensary is targeting a Michigan city in a new lawsuit, seeking $20 million in damages from the city council for allegedly delaying its opening.

Both PUFF Cannabis Company and Menominee Mayor Casey Hoffman said the store has been ready to open since July. But they accused the city council of withholding the paperwork, according to WBAY.

PUFF was given the go-ahead last year to begin construction. But it said the delays have cost it about $1 million per week.

“It’s not fair, it’s not right. PUFF has done nothing wrong. We came in, we played by the rules. We were issued a building permit. We had an approval for our marijuana license once that was completed. And you know, they are doing everything they can to block our opening,” says Nick Hannawa, co-owner and legal counsel for PUFF Cannabis.
