The Cannabis Control Division (CCD) of the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department is issuing a consumer health and safety advisory due to the identification of contaminated cannabis concentrates (shatter, dabs, wax, etc.) that tested positive for a prohibited pesticide.
Products subject to this recall were sold to consumers between January 31, 2023, and February 15, 2024, at Got Greens located at 10200 Corrales Rd Ste E2, Albuquerque, NM 87114. The concentrates were sold under the names: Purple Kush Live Sugar, Cali Dream Live Sugar, Jigglers Live Diamonds, and OG Kush Shatter. The recall also affects the cannabis manufacturer, Pharmers, who has been instructed to destroy all remaining involved concentrates without selling to any additional retailer. Cowboy RX, Sandia Botanicals, and Seven Clover, the growers that produced the cannabis used to manufacture these concentrates, are required to conduct an audit of their inventory history.
The CCD acts to protect public health and safety when a cannabis product is tested and found in violation of applicable rules, including tests that show a pesticide presence above the acceptable limit as defined in rule under 16.8.7.15 NMAC REQUIRED TESTING OF CANNABIS PRODUCTS. In this matter, the CCD identified cannabis concentrate containing a pesticide known as malathion, which when used in cannabis production, would be a violation of the state’s Pesticide Act 76-4-5-Prohibited Acts.
The cannabis product relevant to this recall, in its flower form (parent lot), was sent to cannabis manufacturer Pharmers to be turned into concentrate between September 2022 and November 2022. The concentrate subsequently failed a one-year stability test performed at the request of Got Greens.
Consumers who purchased recalled products from Got Greens are encouraged to destroy it or return it to the retail store from which it was purchased for proper disposal. The CCD continues to investigate this matter to determine if any other retailers may have sold contaminated products.
The CCD has not received any health-related complaints from the use of products subject to this recall. Consumers with health-related concerns about a recalled product should contact the New Mexico Poison Control Hotline at 800-222-1222, or their medical provider.
