Green Market Report, a cannabis business and financial publication that launched in 2017, has shut down.
Debra Borchardt, co-founder and executive editor, said in a LinkedIn post that Crain Communications, which acquired the publication in 2021, made the decision to close operations.
“Crain was a great partner and we worked so hard to make this a success. So many in the industry are struggling. Cannabis companies often don't see the ROI in sponsoring events or advertising and so many are challenged financially as well,” she wrote.
Borchardt and most of the team were laid off but John Schroyer, who served as senior reporter for Green Market Report, said in a separate post that he will continue covering the cannabis industry for Crain’s City Brands portfolio.
