Humboldt Seed Company on Tuesday announced the release of its new "OG Triploid Autoflower" cannabis strain to legal markets worldwide.
HSC officials said the industry-first strain from California will help outdoor cultivators compete with indoor growers in tough markets. The product merges the advantages of autoflowers and triploids — allowing for faster flower harvests with lower inputs.
“What started as a passion project led down an unexpected path and ultimately culminated in this new discovery,” said Benjamin Lind, co-founder and chief science officer of Humboldt Seed. “After a solid four years of research and experimentation we are excited to release this OG triploid autoflower strain, which will allow outdoor growers to compete on more even footing with indoor cultivators."
HSC said the strain is known for its earthy, pine and citrus flavors; its reported therapeutic benefits include relieving stress, anxiety and pain while providing a feeling of relaxation.
OG triploid Auto delivers high potency in the 30-34% THC range, fast flowering times from 80-100 days from germination, and performs well outdoors. The revival of this decades-old classic in new form, officials said, gives cultivators an edge allowing for a second or third yearly crop refreshing its potential as a leading commercial strain.
