Massachusetts could be mounting a campaign to keep hemp-based THCV products out of its marketplace.
In a LinkedIn post spotted by MJBizDaily, Bay State Extracts CEO John Nathan said his company received a cease-and-desist letter from the state’s Department of Agricultural Resources.
Nathan said the agency told his company to immediately halt sales and destroy all of its products containing THCV.
He decried the decision, noting that THCV is a naturally occurring and non-intoxicating cannabinoid found in hemp.
“This will effectively collapse the supply chain of THCV in MA…” he wrote. “There is no logical basis for banning a cannabinoid simply because its acronym begins with THC.”
The move by Massachusetts comes as more states are looking to increase regulation of products with hemp-based THC and other cannabinoids.
