CEN at MJBizCon: Fluence Uses Science to Make Grow Lights Without Unnecessary Bells & Whistles

Every new product is based on findings from the company's research facilities.

When it comes to new product design, grow light manufacturer Fluence starts with the science, which plays an integral role in the company's development process. Casey Rivero, a cannabis solutions architect at the LED maker, says Fluence launches new products based on findings from the company's research facilities. Rivero says the practice ensures that any new product doesn't have any unnecessary bells and whistles.

As markets develop, cultivators need to create margin, Rivero says. Having a healthy, sustainable margin gives growers the ability to sell product, so Fluence does everything it can to make cultivation strategies as efficient as possible. "Everything is getting more expensive right now, so the more we can help, we can guide the cultivators into an optimal efficient way ...  so they can actually make profit," Rivero says.

Fluence takes a more consultative approach with clients, deploying services born in the company's test facility, and helping cultivators gain a better understanding of spectrum, spectrum control, intensity, what light looks like throughout the canopy, as well as other strategies to maximize what light can do for the crop.

At the show, we interviewed leaders from nearly every aspect of the industry. We didn't have time to interview everybody, so if we missed you, please reach out to [email protected]. MJBizCon 2025 is scheduled to be held from December 2, 2025, through December 5, 2025, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
