New York’s legal cannabis market is projected to surpass $1 billion in adult-use sales this year, with total retail sales to date reaching $1.91 billion. At the current pace, the market is expected to exceed $2 billion in overall sales.
New York State continues to build long-term momentum toward an equity-driven market, with Social and Economic Equity (SEE) applicants consistently participating in the adult-use licensing process
Of the 1,851 adult-use licenses issued by the Board to date, 56% have been awarded to SEE applicants. This includes:
- Community Disproportionately Impacted (CDI) applicants: 14%
- Distressed farmers: 7%
- Minority-owned businesses: 47%
- Service-disabled veteran-owned businesses: 7%
- Women-owned businesses: 56% There are currently 431 legal dispensaries open for business across the Empire State.
