October Automation is introducing the AI Opto Sort 2.0, a commercial cannabis sorter that relies on the company's proprietary TrueArea algorithm to calculate the exact area, not just the width or length, of each flower.
The machine, which features a 304 stainless steel frame and 316L stainless steel flower-touching surface, is designed to sort for quality and size. It can handle trimmed or untrimmed product, which means product can be sorted for size prior to trimming. Sorting by AI lets users to separate well-trimmed, mold- and burn-free flower from poorly trimmed, leafy, stemmy or moldy flower. Sorting by air lets users redirect buds with puffs of air from a 14-jet manifold.
The AI Opto Sort 2.0 boasts a size sorting accuracy rate of up to 95% with a throughput of up to 80 pounds of dry flower or 140 pounds of wet flower per hour.
