Chicago retailer Consume Cannabis will officially open its eighth location — and fourth in Illinois — during a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday.
Consume officials said the new dispensary in the Chicago suburb of Oakbrook Terrace would be an “immersive and educational experience into the world of cannabis,” featuring interactive displays on the types of cannabis and their active compounds.
The company added that the new location is its second adult-only use facility, and that officials hope to see it become a destination for users on par with dispensaries on the West Coast. The former restaurant will be able to accommodate classes and educational events, and will feature, according to officials, "the world's largest smokable joint."
Consume said it has hired and trained nearly 40 new employees in Oakbrook Terrace.
Two additional Consume retail locations in Michigan are also set to open this month.
