Kansas City Plans Cannabis Entertainment District

"People will be free to legally consume in some of the venues and enjoy being themselves."

A new cannabis entertainment district is being planned for construction just outside of Kansas City.

According to KCTV, the site will include an amphitheater, two indoor venues, festival grounds and event spaces along with food and beverage vendors.

The Smokey River Entertainment District will focus on attracting local, regional and national acts.

The project said it will allow legal cannabis use in some of its venues.

“People will be free to legally consume in some of the venues and enjoy being themselves,” a representative for the project told the news station.

The project is expected to open in phases, with smaller venues coming next year and a 14,000-person amphitheater coming in 2024.

The plans are being announced less than a week after Missouri voters decided to legalize adult-use recreational cannabis.
