Why Fohse Upgraded Every Grow Light in the Field Last Year

All in an effort to increase yields, terpenes and THC quality, while reducing the cost per pound.

Fohse has spent the last year renovating every unit it has in the field, upgrading each into Pro Series Tunable Spectrum LEDs. The updates mean more spectrum control and tunability for cultivators, including the addition of infrared (IR) boosters, all in an effort to increase yields, terpenes and THC quality, while reducing the cost per pound.

While the technology is designed for cannabis, Ben Arnet, co-founder and president of Fohse, says his company is also taking steps into commercial agriculture.

At MJBizCon in Las Vegas, Arnet said innovation and options are a necessity in the cultivation world, giving growers more control over when to push their plants harder and when to pull back, all to stay competitive in a challenging market. Arnet said it's hard enough to succeed as a grower, and putting the wrong equipment into the grow is just one headache operators shouldn't have to manage.

The A3i Pro Series from Fohse offers true seven-channel tunable spectrum with millions of different spectrum opportunities, Arnet said. It also includes the power to play with UVA, a true far-red 730-nanometer wavelength, as well as green lights to work at night. "We've listened to growers over the last six years, taken their requests and built them into the technology," he added.

Fohse offers an entire horticultural service department dedicated to cultivator success. The company also has new developments with artificial intelligence, including AI cameras that track photometric markers in the grow room, like growth or integrated pest management (IPM) issues, combined with the ability to dial in the room lighting, intensity, and feeding based on what AI is tracking, nearly in real time.

The company currently serves some 3,000 clients in 24 different countries, and is expanding its presence in Europe.
