Saint Peter's University Sues to Stop New Dispensary

The university warned Medusa's would have "substantial negative impacts."

Saint Peter’s University has filed suit to stop a cannabis dispensary and lounge from opening near its campus in New Jersey.

Jersey City laws require that cannabis dispensaries be located at least 200 feet from a school.

According to TAP, SPU’s new Ignatius Hall dormitory would only be about 65 feet from Medusa’s planned retail location.

SPU claimed that Medusa would have “substantial negative impacts” on the school’s underage student population and the community as a whole.

According to the report, the planning board did not use the term “school” to describe SPU in its approval of the application.

Medusa’s plans to open a cannabis consumption lounge have received support from city officials including the mayor.

SPU’s profile was raised earlier this year when its men’s basketball team beat several highly ranked teams in the NCAA Tournament.
