According to Business of Cannabis, a new draft ballot has been introduced.
The measure needs more than 17,000 signatures to make it onto the 2024 general election ballot in the state.
If passed, it would allow South Dakota residents 21 and older to use, possess, grow and distribute adult-use recreational cannabis.
A similar measure was on the ballot in 2022 and South Dakota voters rejected it.
If South Dakota legalizes recreational cannabis, it would join other recent states including Ohio and Minnesota.
