Ohio’s fledgling adult-use recreational cannabis market has already rang up more than $87 million in total product sales in its first two months.

Recreational sales in the state began on August 6, 2024 and have been averaging over $10 million per week since.

As of October 1, Ohio cannabis retailers have sold more than 10,000 pounds of plant material and about 1.36 million units of manufactured products.

Last year, cannabis market intelligence firm BDSA projected that recreational sales might not launch until 2025 but that they would total $300 million annually by then.

At the same time, medical cannabis sales in Ohio, which have been legal since January 2019, are approaching the $2 billion mark. Medical sales have so far accounted for about 285,000 pounds of plant material and more than 26 million units of manufactured products.
