XRpure specializes in cannabis decontamination. The company's flagship system, the XR16, and the smaller XR12, is designed for smaller cannabis operations, providing safe cold-process X-ray decontamination.
While the technology provides a quick ROI, treating 15-20 pounds in about 90 minutes, the systems were still too great a capital expense for some smaller mom-and-pop operators. So, according to Jeff Adams, managing director at XRpure, he mounted a system on a trailer to offer a mobile solution: decontamination-as-a-service (DaaS).
The proof-of-concept is being piloted in New York state, and Adams said demand remains high. The process is straightforward: XRpure drives the trailer to an operator, trains employees on how to operate it (since XRpure isn't licensed to handle the product in the state), and the operator pays a fee based on the amount of product processed.
XRpure continues to push the technological envelope. Before the company launched its 12kw and 16kw systems, Adams said state-of-the-art systems in the industry typically hovered around 6kw, which means XRpure's tech can decontaminate 1.5 to 3 times faster.
Next, the company is eyeing international expansion, with machines recently shipped to Canada and Europe, the latter offering a significant opportunity as an emerging market, according to Adams.
