Cannabis Gifting Party Hit with Cease-and-Desist Order

Organizers said they were “disappointed, but not surprised.”

A cannabis “gifting party” in Connecticut has been hit with a cease-and-desist order from state Attorney General William Tong.

The HighBazaar has been hosting weekly cannabis-related gatherings. CT Insider said the events have attracted as many as 1,200 attendees.

But now that may be in jeopardy after state regulators said the event violates multiple laws.

Tong referred to the event as an “unlicensed cannabis market” that is accessible to individuals under the age of 21.

The event charges a $20 entry fee and allows attendees to purchase cannabis-related products and then receive gifts containing cannabis along with the purchases.

Organizers said they were “disappointed, but not surprised” by the threat of legal action.
