This Physicist Says He May Have Forever Changed Grow Lights, Cannabis Storage

It's a new technology, but a growing number of operators are using it.

Boulderlamp is a small company founded by Fazle Quazi in 2009 that makes grow lights in Colorado. Quazi, a physicist and electrical engineer, said his company specializes in customized, American-made lighting solutions. Given the nature of a small business, he stressed that his company focuses on premier customer service, responding to clients in near real-time.

At MJBizCon 2025, Quazi said, "We have as good a grow light as any other company, big or small, but we have one feature that no other company does." He was talking about his patented visible non-UV light.

Bouldlamp has a number of products that serve the cannabis market. For example, the company's MoonWalker MAX is an energy-efficient, innovative LED grow light engineered to boost crop yields and quality. It features a built-in, optional high-intensity cycling beam designed to enhance plant growth, leading to larger structures, denser trichomes, and increased levels of terpenes and cannabinoids, according to the company.

Built for commercial grows, the 405 nm technology also helps to create a cleaner, healthier growing environment, reducing the risk of pests, spider mites, mold, bacteria, and viruses in vertical farms and other indoor facilities.

Quazi also discussed the VioShield Bud Freshener, a jar that has 405 nm antimicrobial violet-blue light built directly into the lid to help protect stored flower from mold and preserve their natural freshness, aroma, and quality without UV, chemicals, or additives.

"It's a new technology, and anything new isn't easy to market," Quazi said. "You have to convince people, but I now have a number of commercial growers using [the Bud Freshener]."
