A Minnesota mayor and his son are facing charges after being caught running an illegal cannabis cultivation operation.

According to CBS News, the charges were filed against Winnebago Mayor Scott Robertson and his son, Jacob Robertson. Winnebago is a small town south of the Twin Cities.

Law enforcement said they found up to 240 plants growing at three different locations.

Both Robertson and his son had previously been licensed to grow hemp in Minnesota but those licenses expired at the beginning of 2023.

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture previously inspected the Robertsons’ property but found no illegal plants.

The report said witnesses claimed the two men used a trailer to remove the plants before the inspection.
