The New Orleans Police Department headquarters already has enough problems without having to deal with stoned rats.
But that’s apparently been added to the list, according to the Advocate.
When NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick went before the city council this week to request a new location for HQ, she described the infestation.
"The rats are eating our marijuana," Kirkpatrick said. "They're all high."
In addition to the rats, NOPD headquarters is also facing issues with mold, heating and cooling, plumbing and aging elevators.
This is not the first time rats have been blamed for chowing down on cannabis in the evidence room.
In 2022, a police station in India said rats broke into the storage space and ate nearly 440 pounds of cannabis.
