Cannabis β€˜Theme Park’ Scheme Dupes Investors Out of $600,000

The resort was supposed to include glass ceilings for watching the Northern Lights.

The promise of a cannabis β€œtheme park” dubbed a β€œBud and Breakfast” was enough to defraud several investors out of thousands.

According to the Sacramento Bee, Brian Keith Corty pitched the idea of a resort in Alaska that would allow guests to use cannabis on the premises.

He told investors that the resort would have glass ceilings allowing guests to gaze up at the Northern Lights.

He also imagined the resort would grow, process and sell cannabis on site.

Corty promised the resort would make $23 million by its third year and got about 24 investors to commit more than $600,000 to the project.

However, instead of investing the money, he took the proceeds from selling shares in a shell company and paid off his debts.
