Florida Gov. DeSantis Expected to Veto Hemp Bill

Residents will vote later this year on recreational cannabis legalization.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will reportedly veto a bill aimed at regulating intoxicating hemp-based THC products in his state.

The bill is designed to restrict the manufacture and sale of products featuring Delta-8 and Delta-9 THC.

DeSantis is reportedly vetoing the bill as Florida is preparing for a vote on legalizing adult-use recreational cannabis.

According to CBS News, this may not be a coincidence.

DeSantis has publicly opposed legalizing recreational cannabis in Florida and by protecting hemp, he hopes to gain an ally in his fight against Amendment 3.

In April, the Florida Supreme Court approved a recreational cannabis legalization measure for the ballot in November’s general election.
