Green Thumb Reportedly Wants to Merge with Boston Beer

The possible combination would form an alcohol-cannabis powerhouse.

Green Thumb Industries, a multi-state cannabis operator, is reportedly looking to catch the current wave of consolidation across the cannabis industry.

According to multiple reports, Green Thumb CEO Ben Kovler sent a letter to Boston Beer, makers of Samuel Adams and Truly hard seltzers, about a possible merger.

Green Thumb said it could make a superior offer for Boston Beer and that merging the companies would allow Green Thumb to list on U.S. exchanges.

Green Thumb, a national cannabis consumer packaged goods company and owner of RISE Dispensaries, issued a statement declining to comment on market rumors.

With cannabis progressing toward being rescheduled at the federal level, mergers and acquisitions have picked up.
