Cannabis Giant Pumps Millions Into Florida Legalization Campaign

Much of Trulieve’s operations are based in the state.

One of the country’s largest medical cannabis companies is pouring significant funding into efforts to legalize recreational cannabis in Florida.

Trulieve this month contributed $5 million to the Smart & Safe Florida political committee.

According to CBS News, Trulieve has now contributed more than $60 million to Smart & Safe Florida.

Smart & Safe Florida is campaigning in Florida to encourage residents to vote yes on amendment 3, which would legalize cannabis for consumers 21 and older.

The amendment would also allow adult consumers to possess up to three ounces of cannabis.

"We are pleased that the Court agreed that the ballot language was clear and correctly ruled in favor of allowing voters the chance to vote on this important initiative,” the group’s website reads. “We look forward to bringing our message of allowing adults to safely use cannabis for their own personal consumption to the voters of this state."

Much of Trulieve’s operations are based in Florida, including 143 cannabis dispensaries and a 750,000-square-foot cultivation facility.
