The company last year that it had achieved profitability.

Mood Cannabis announced plans to lay off 120 employees at its e-commerce dispensary in Oklahoma City.

It’s a somewhat surprising move given the company told the Oklahoman last year that it had achieved profitability without the need for external funding.

Owners David Charles and Jake Antifaev told the publication that they were focusing on long-term growth and becoming a trustworthy player in the THC product market.

Mood Cannabis was able to ship its hemp-based THC products around the country from Oklahoma, which allows for the processing of industrial hemp.

However, the hemp-based THC industry has been increasingly under fire lately as more states either implement or consider implementing bans on intoxicating hemp products.

California last month introduced new regulations that ban any detectable quantity of THC from consumable hemp products such as beverages and food.
