Delaware Flooded with Applications Adult-Use Cannabis Licenses

Delaware’s recreational cannabis market isn’t expected to officially launch until March 2025.

Delaware officials have been flooded with applications for a relatively small amount of available adult-use cannabis licenses.

The state’s Office of the Marijuana Commissioner received more than 1,260 applications between August 19 and September 30.

More than 800 of those applications were for either an open or social equity retail license. The state will initially issue just 30 of those licenses combined.

Delaware will award licenses through a lottery, with the first one scheduled on October 24 for cultivation licenses.

Delaware’s recreational cannabis market isn’t expected to officially launch until March 2025.

But the state has drawn significant revenue. It’s already made $4 million from just the application process.
