CEN at MJBIZCon: AI Budtenders Demystify the Cannabis Shopping Experience

StrainBrain's tech can help new cannabis users and seasoned consumers who want to venture out.

Dina Rollman has more than a decade of cannabis experience dating back to 2014 when she joined Green Thumb Industries as chief compliance counsel and co-founded the Illinois Women in Cannabis organization. In her newest role as CEO of StrainBrain, she's overseeing growth for the company's AI budtender and product recommendation engine.

StrainBrain is designed to help guide customers on their journey into cannabis. To help customers find the right product or combination of products to achieve the effects they're seeking, StrainBrain asks straightforward questions through its simple user interface (UI) and then generates objective responses using its AI algorithm.

StrainBrain is clearly a good tool for anyone who's new to cannabis but Rollman is quick to point out that it's really for everybody.

"I'm 10 years into the industry. I'm a proud, happy cannabis consumer. But I can't keep up with the number of products that are arriving at stores everyday," she said, adding that the technology could help consumers like her venture out and try new cannabis products beyond their tried and true.

The Cannabis Equipment News (CEN) team recently traveled to MJBizCon 2024 in Las Vegas from December 4 through December 6. At the show, we interviewed leaders from nearly every aspect of the industry. We didn't have time to interview everybody, so if we missed you, please reach out to [email protected]. MJBizCon 2025 is scheduled to be held from December 2, 2025, through December 5, 2025, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
