The Cannabis Equipment News team recently traveled to MJBizCon held in Las Vegas from November 28, 2023 through December 1, 2023. At the show, we interviewed equipment manufacturers, cultivators, operators and new product developers to learn more about what they bring to the cannabis industry.
It has been two years since New Jersey legalized recreational cannabis use. So far, the market has been turbulent with many operators still trying to secure funding and build out their operations.
Alyza Brevard-Rodriguez is hoping to set the standard for Jersey cannabis with the Otherside Dispensary and Consumption Lounge opening soon in Jersey City. A champion for diversity, equity and inclusion, she is the first black, LatinaX, LGBTQ, female, disabled veteran cannabis operator in New Jersey.
Brevard-Rodriguez spent 10 years in the military, including serving as a military police officer in the Navy. She was injured and it led down a road of opioids until she found cannabis. She has always been into health and wellness and her vast portfolio also includes the SW3AT wellness center and yoga studio.
Brevard-Rodriguez is also the host of a leading industry podcast, “Coffee and Cannabis.”
The next MJBizCon will be held in Las Vegas from December 3, 2024 through December 6, 2024 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
