It’s been more than a year since Minnesota officially legalized adult-use recreational cannabis but the state’s market has yet to launch.
Charlene Briner, interim director of Minnesota’s Office of Cannabis Management (OCM), this week provided an update on the state’s progress.
The OCM is still eying an early 2025 market launch as it finetunes the licensing process for cannabis retail and cultivation applications.
Briner said the process is particularly complicated since the OCM has to build its office from scratch while also designing the framework for Minnesota’s legal cannabis market.
“We’re building this plane while we’re flying it,” she said.
In August, the OCM released the first draft for Minnesota’s proposed recreational cannabis rules.
