A Trulieve cannabis facility in Florida seems to have run afoul of state regulations, and could be facing steep penalties if it doesn’t fix the situation.

According to the Tallahassee Democrat, Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) contacted the company after an inspection at its indoor cannabis cultivation facility in Monticello. Trulieve has been allegedly discharging contaminated wastewater without a valid permit.

Trulieve was given 15 days to respond to the letter, or it was warned it could face penalties up to $15,000 a day until the problem is remedied.

As the report points out, the Florida DEP is not the first state agency to alert Trulieve about potential concerns with its cultivation facility. After residents raised concerns, the Suwannee River Water Management District ordered the company to submit a maintenance plan.
