At MJBizCon 2025, Xylem Robotics launched the second generation of its Y2 Automated Pre-Roll Infuser, a machine that makes hash hole pre-rolls—joints with a thin strip of concentrate placed in the middle.
The company also debuted upgrades for the X4 Automated Cartridge Filler & Capper, Xylem's signature line for filling and capping vape cartridges, including modular add-ons. For example, the X4 can now provide full end-to-end packaging—each cart comes out filled, capped, cleaned, and bagged. With a bagger, the X4 produces 1,600 units per hour; without a bagger it can make up to 1,800 units per hour.
Before any machine makes it to market, the company undergoes rigorous testing. "Whenever we develop on new machine, we take it onsite to clients first, because everything is different in a lab environment," said Drew Rothe, executive director of Xylem Robotics. "We let them test it, then we make some tweaks and changes."
Xylem tested a full X4 line with a client for six months and debuted the first production model at MJBizCon 2025.
Finally, Xylem is looking for use cases to integrate artificial intelligence technology into its equipment. For example, the company's AI Autonomous Vape Filler, the AX, is a small, tabletop cart filler. While the machine won't yet cap vape carts, it uses machine vision to see and fill carts "like a human," according to the company's website. The AX can fill any kind of cart, and the operator doesn't need to have the tray lined up or even completely full. The AX uses a camera to determine what and where to fill.
