CEN at MJBizCon: Pre-Roll Automation That Keeps It Simple

Uptime is key, so Hefestus USA makes equipment with a small footprint and without too many moving parts.

The Cannabis Equipment News (CEN) team recently traveled to MJBizCon 2024 in Las Vegas from December 4 through December 6. At the show, we interviewed leaders from nearly every aspect of the industry.

Shahar Yamay is the CEO of Hefestus USA, a company that specializes in pre-roll automation solutions. The company is a subsidiary of Hefestus Technologies, which was founded by Yamay's father, who built the company by serving the food and pharmaceutical packaging industries.

Hefestus USA focuses on pre-roll machines, especially those that make niche blunt and highly infused products. The company has also started developing flower weighing and packaging equipment that pack products into jars and mylar bags.

Yamay keeps it simple. His equipment has a small footprint without too many moving parts. He knows that uptime is key for cannabis operator success. He notes that many of the best operators in the industry know the plant more than they know equipment, so he keeps the design straightforward, and capable of being up and running the day after deliver.

Yamay says the market is moving in so many different directions, but he plans to stay focused on blunts and high infusions as well as post-packaging equipment for joints.

We didn't have time to interview everybody, so if we missed you, please reach out to [email protected]. MJBizCon 2025 is scheduled to be held from December 2, 2025, through December 5, 2025, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
