At MJBizCon 2025, Jim Sanfilippo, CEO of Vist Labs, said more sophisticated packaging automation is coming to the cannabis industry.
The company offers a high-output version of its sterilizing equipment that automatically and aseptically transfers the product right into a filling system. The Vist Labs AMAPS RPP-10 Aseptic Modified Atmosphere Packaging System can fill retail and bulk pouches, and seal them in a modified atmosphere that will promote stability for more than one year.
"When truth in labeling laws really hit cannabis upon federal legalization, your labels have to be true," said Sanfilippo. "If you make a claim for THC on the label, within 60 days, without modified atmosphere, that label is no longer going to be true and you'll have to remove it from store shelves."
